Winning the war on …

What is Bush doing to stop al queda from nuking us? He's policing a sectarian feud in Baghdad.

Atlanta is the likely al queda target. Detonated on a plane. The CIA knows all of this, but Bush wont let them stop it. He has killed any initiative to stop alqueda that doesn't have the word baghdad in it.

WHo is that lame duck president who didn't really get elected, but got annointed holy president instead by the supreme court? (idontknow). You know, he mispronounces words like nuclear. (beatsme). "Attack Iraq". Oh, come on, he said mission accomplished. (sorry, dontknow). "Attack Iraq". Well, he diebolded his second term with dirty tricks that the authorites are still uncovering…(youlostme). "ATTACK IRAQ".

Cameras to check on illegal parking

In a bid to avoid motorists being caught unawares, the council will run send out dummy warning notices to people caught breaking the rules in the first fortnight of March.

Councillor Vlod Barchuk, who is in charge of transport in the borough, said: "Parking enforcement is not universally popular but the regulations are there to keep roads safe and ensure the free flow of traffic and should be enforced.

"Pedestrian safety is the top priority which is why we have already stepped up CCTV enforcement around schools and next will be enforcing regulations at zebra crossings.

"However, some regulations are badly understood by motorists so our approach will be to warn before we enforce. We will give motorists advance notice so they have ample opportunity to avoid getting fines."

Fines issued by the council in the first month of the CCTV enforcement outside Ealing Broadway station earned more than £225,000, with fines of £100 for each offence recorded, and the extension comes into force from March 31.

The rise of shmatte chic.

At Fashion Week in New York last month, Brazilian designer Alexandre Herchcovitch didn't so much unveil a collection as veil one. His aggressively modest looks included below-the-knee skirts, billowing silhouettes, and, most conspicuously, hats. Lots of elaborate, distinctly undainty hats, which bore a striking resemblance to, of all things, those worn by fashionable Orthodox Jewish women on holy days—making Herchcovitch's runway seem less like a Saturday at the Shows than Sabbath in certain synagogues. This followed on the heels of his summer 2007 men's collection show, in which models were draped in oversized Star of David necklaces, and more than a few others dressed in pants and belts that plainly recalled zizit, the ritual fringes worn by Orthodox Jewish men.

Herchcovitch's work has been startling, though it's not the first time Jewish life has been paraded down the couture runway.

Bruce Lee's Master Subject of Biopics

We all know that teacher Ip Man promoted Chinese kung fu around the world. He's also the teacher of my idol Bruce Lee. So when I took this role I put a lot of pressure on myself," he said.

Yen's reverence for Ip's legacy is testimony to his storied reputation.

Born in Foshan in 1893, Ip started training around 1903 in wing chun. He arrived in Hong Kong in the 1940s to escape the Communist takeover of the mainland. In Hong Kong, he started out teaching kung fu to restaurant workers but broadened his reach to hundreds of students, including Lee, before passing away in 1972.

Lee, who died in 1973 at age 32 from swelling of the brain, studied under Ip for five years, according to his official biography on the Bruce Lee Foundation Web site.

The movie starring Yen isn't the only production about Ip Man in the works.

UW takes advantage at the line

It wasn't long ago that free throws were an item on the Wyoming Cowboys' laundry list of problems. But after a 26-of-27 day from the line led to a 72-64 win over Utah in Laramie on Saturday, free-throw shooting is one quandary that can be considered fixed."We work on it a lot," UW coach Heath Schroyer said after the Cowboys' second consecutive win. "We shoot them every day for 15 minutes or so."And I think the guys are starting to value how important they are."UW senior forward Joseph Taylor echoed that sentiment and pointed to one game where he found out the hard way just how important free throws can be.Taylor was just 1-for-6 from the charity stripe in the Pokes' first meeting with Air Force, a costly overtime loss at home in which the team made just 13 of 22 attempts."I missed that shot at Air Force," he said.
